A service started on Monday 14th September 2009 that lets deaf, hard of hearing and speech-impaired customers send a text to the emergency services using a 999 short-code.
This is an opt-in service for qualifying users (eg those registered with the RNID) with the opt-in process being managed centrally by BT.
Texts that you send to the 999 Service will go over the Vodafone UK Messaging infrastructure, however, the response from BT could be routed through another UK Mobile Operator.
Messages sent to 999 are free to our customers and the service can be used by both pay monthly and pay as you go customers.
